ALED JONES

Singer and presenter

Undoubtedly, Aled is most famous for his performance as a schoolboy chorister on the classic Christmas song, "Walking In The Air". Aled recorded songs as he grew up, but after school, studied at the Royal Academy of Music as well as the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and has appeared on stage in the lead role of "Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat". He has also carved out a career as a presenter and broadcaster on television and radio, including presenting"Songs of Praise" and covering for regular presenters on Radio 2 shows such as Ken Bruce and Sarah Kennedy. He still continues his musical career alongside this, with 25 albums (including 'Best of' titles) to his name, and will take the lead in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" at the Millenium Centre in Cardiff in the summer of 2008.

Aled was partnered with Lilia Kopylova in the second series of Strictly Come Dancing. A good start to the competition led on to a generally consistent improvement in Aled's performance throughout the series, but he was eventually voted out in the semi-final. The most memorable moment of Aled's time on Strictly is probably during his Samba, which he and Lilia were dancing to the Tom Jones song 'It's Not Unusual', when Aled gave us his fantastic hip thrusts in time with the drums! The couple were asked back to dance in the 2004 Christmas Special, and chose to dance with Samba again, with an inspired song choice from Lilia using a new arrangement of 'Walking In The Air'
