Aston’s first brush with fame began with a performance as Michael Jackson on Stars In Their Eyes in 2002, before going on to appear in Fun Song Factory at the age of 16. It was meeting future band mate Marvin Humes at an audition that became a major turning point, leading him to become part of JLS, one of Britain’s biggest ever boy bands.  They found fame with group JLS on The X Factor back in 2008 – coming second to fellow Strictly 2017 star Alexandra Burke – and the band sold out arenas, bagging five number one singles and selling over 10 million records worldwide.

Alongside his vocal talents, Aston’s renowned for his slick moves and on-stage acrobatics, landing him a judging spot on Sky 1’s Got to Dance alongside Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo.
