JAMELIA

SINGER

Singer Jamelia was born and raised in Birmingham, and signed her first recording contract at the age of just 15.  Her breakthrough came with her third single, Money, which reached number five in the UK charts, but also won the Best Video award at the MOBO awards in 2000 and was also nominated at the Brit Awards.  Jamelia won three awards, including Best British Female, at the MOBOs in 2004, and had three top five hits from her album, Thank You, the same year.  Outside of the music industry, Jamelia has made two documentaries for the BBC, one on the hair extension industry, and another about single mothers.  She has subsequently become a contributor to the ITV daytime panel show, Loose Women, and also works for the charities ActionAid, The Princes Trust and the World Food programme.

Jamelia will be dancing with Tristan MacManus in series 13 of Strictly Come Dancing.
