Jan is an actress, although her uncanny knack for impersonations has brought her to the public attention through both the radio and television versions of "Dead Ringers". She has also appeared in such programmes as "The Grimleys", "Bremner, Bird and Fortune" and the E4 drama "Skins".
Appearing in the fourth series of Strictly Come Dancing, Jan danced with ballroom specialist Anton Du Beke. After a promising Quickstep in her first week, Jan received encouraging comments from the judges, her first latin dance was to shatter her confidence. Crippling nerves and outside the safety of the ballroom hold led to a disastrous Jive, and the judges criticism and scores, sent Jan's morale for the live performances plummet. Two ballroom dances followed, and in week five she danced the Viennese Waltz and compliments from the judges followed, but the scores, particularly from Craig Revel-Horwood, didn't reflect the improvement. The public vote went against the couple, and it was a very tearful Jan who said goodbye, not without some animosity towards Craig, finishing the competition ninth out of fourteen couples.
