JOHN BYRNES

 

 

Biography: John was born in Australia and it was his mother who decided that he needed to go to dancing lessons at the eight of eight. He started out taking his medals exams before competing in competitions and travelling throughout Australasia. He was a sucessful amateur but decided that he needed to move to the UK in order to become the best in the world. In 1986, he met his professional dance partner and future wife Jayne, and together they competed at the highest levels, but decided to retire from competition in 2007. John was a dance consultant for Strictly Come Dancing as well as competing in the first series.
