After closing the Week 4 show with their Viennese Waltz, Katie & Anton earned the top score of the night, putting them top of the leader board. Now, that doesn't happen very often, BUT it has happened before ...
Many moons ago, on the 15th April 2004, Strictly Come Dancing was first broadcast and on that very night, Anton danced his first Strictly dance with opera singer Lesley Garrett and their waltz was awarded 29 points placing them at the top of the very first leader board in Strictly history.
Only two series later, Anton was partnered with actress Patsy Palmer, and their tango in week 3 was their highest scoring dance of the series with 34 points, and topped the leader board that week.
Fast forward to series 7, and despite a shaky start, dancing the foxtrot with actress Laila Rouass in week 4, the couple earned their series high score of 34 points, once again topping the leader board.
So on four separate occasions, Strictly stalwart Anton Du Beke has reached the heady heights of the top of the leader board, not surprisingly with ballroom routines each time, but with Katie Derham showing plenty of potential, could there be more to come this year?
