London born Anita Dobson trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and it was her role as Queen Vic landlady Angie Watts in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. The role was a backbone of the British soap for three years, and it was a defining moment in the series history when the Christmas Day episode, culminating in adulterous husband Den giving Angie divorce papers after finding out she had been lying about a terminal illness, watched by a record breaking 30.1 million viewers. Since leaving the series, she has appeared in a variety of television programmes as well as acting on stage, including her performance in the play Frozen which earned her a nomination in the 2003 Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Actress. Anita will know exactly what she is letting herself in for by competing in Strictly Come Dancing, after supporting her EastEnders screen daughter, actress Letita Dean, in the fifth series of show.

Anita will be dancing in the ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing and will be dancing with Robin Windsor.
